We tend to think of nature as free— easily accessed by all. But we’ve found there are several inhibitors for those who desire spending time in nature, from actually getting there. Case in point, as a teacher huge segments of my students confided they had never visited the ocean when we lived in California, or the mountains for those in Colorado, despite each being in their own respective “backyard”. Mostly it came down to time and money—a luxury not always afforded to families. We believe cost should NOT be a deterrent from getting outside.
